Description: In order to measure the level of preparation of a nation or community to participate in, and benefit from, ICT developments, the NRI and its components are an instrument that enables not only the evaluation of a country's relative position in its development and performance in the use of ICT, but also to better understand the "forces" and "weaknesses" of nations in terms of their ability to act technologically.

The NRI structure, in its most recent version, comprises 53 indicators, divided into four sub-indexes (environment, readiness, usage and impact), divided into 10 pillars, namely:
